The chair of industrial and civil building is the base graduating chair which trains specialists of specialty 7.092101 "Industrial and civil building" and it is a structural unit of the department of building and building management (FBBM) of the institute of building, heat energy and gas supply (InBTEGP) of the Vinnytsya national technical university.

The growth of demand in specialists of building characterizes the fact that during the last five years all the graduates of the chair (PCB) were employe. The demands for the graduates come from enterprises and firms of different forms of ownership, which are in constant contact. These are SPMK-67, NDLEFBK, VP "Factory ZBK", "Mur Ltd", "Steel Construction", "Vinnytsyaagroproject", "Vinnytsyabud", VAT trust "Kyivmistbud-1", administration of Zhmerinka rajagrobud, VKP "Express" Rozhnyativ, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Mogyliv Podilskiy KP MBU "Promzhitlobud", KP "BMU-1", ZAT RBU-5, DAK "Bread of Ukraine, Kyiv", KP BMU of Mogyliv Podilskiy "Promzhitlobud", scientific industrial firm "Reconstruction", ZAT "Vinnytsya project institute" ZAT "Trostyanetsagrobud", KP "Khmilnykgajagrobub" etc.

Today the chair is headed by the professor, doctor of technical sciences ,

Currently 478 students are being trained the specialty "Industrial and civil building" among them 128 as students by correspondence. Partially the students study on the contract basis. The PCB chair takes part in training managers and specialists of specialty 7. 02108 "Heat and gas supply and ventilation". The chair provides training specialists obtaining the second higher education of PCB specialty.

The basic courses of building specialist are taught at the chair:

  1. Building mechanics
  2. Engineering geology
  3. Building constructions
  4. Timber and plastic constructions
  5. Metal constructions
  6. Soil mechanics, bases and foundations
  7. Reinforced concrete constructions

In 1996 the first master’s degrees of specialty 7.092101 were trained. The total number of specialists with master’s degree is 54. The training of specialist with the master’s degree is run on the basis of educational and qualification level "bachelor". The term of training on the basis of educational and qualification level "bachelor" is one year. Lately the training of specialists with the master’s degree is organized in three directions:

  • scientific activity
  • pedagogical activity

The PCB chair runs post- graduates training. The chair has made 30 candidate and 4 doctor dissertations. Eight candidates of sciences for oversea countries have been trained.

The chair runs great scientific and research work. One budget and several economic programs are carried out.

During last five years the chair has produced two textbooks, ten train aids and five monographs.

All the specialties which are taught, are provided with the basic normative documentation of the Ministry of education of Ukraine.

During its existence the chair has founded and developed the scientific directions: the cycle of special subjects (999) hours aimed at developing the professional level and deepening knowledge in special subjects in the sphere of building constructions and forming peculiar skills of master’s degree specialists of "Industrial and civil building"

The process of curriculum training is run according to the complex system which includes: lectures, seminar and practical classes, performing individual activities.

Educational and qualification characteristics of PCB chair graduate

Specialist building engineer must know:

  • basic tendencies in the development of architecture and architectural and constructional challenges of industrial, civil and special constructions
  • the properties of building materials and the perspectives of their usage in building constructions and finishing works
  • the calculating methods and designing bearing structures
  • using atomization systems in designing building constructions
  • methods of evaluating the bearing capacity of constructional elements and constructional solutions for strengthening the basic bearing structures
  • ways of strengthening structures while reconstructing buildings
  • methods of erecting new structures and constructions
  • rules of performing building and construction activities meeting all demands, labor and environmental protection
  • methods of investment and technical grounding of organizations and building management.

Specialist an engineer-builder must be able:

  • to execute the architectural planning of buildings and structures with the use of modern types of constructions;
  • to execute calculations and constructing of build constructions for new buildings and structures, and also at a reconstruction and strengthening;
  • to use the computing engineering, network of INTERNET;
  • to utilize devices and equipments for determination of build materials properties and stressed-strained state of build constructions;
  • to execute the estimation of build works efficiency , methods of mechanization and automation of building and special works;
  • to organize implementation of building processes on a construction site with inhibition of technologies and labour requirements and environment protection;
  • to execute verification implementations of building and the special works in accordance with the requirements of normative documents;
  • to carry out at high level guidance, studies and education of workers collective of (students and others like tham), proper subsection which heads specialist engineer-builder.

The graduating students of department work on the enterprises of ownership different patterns including private firms, public institutions, in establishments of education; it is founders and leaders of enterprises.

It costs to mark, that the curriculum of specialists preparation in industry of industrial and civil building after the list of disciplines coincides with a standard curriculum. Therefore, on statistics of department, practically all of graduating students work exactly on build enterprises. Obtained knowledge in the area of calculation and constructing, domain of work skills with programmatic complexes SAPR is important and meaningful in the eyes of modern employers in any industry of building.

Historical information

The producing department of industrial and civil building was created in 1975 year. Its founder and leader was a doctor of engineerings sciences, professor M.F. Drukovaniy. In 1980 year from it the department of build constructions, which was led by the candidate of engineerings sciences, professor, deserved builder of Ukraine V.D. Sverdlov, was dissociated.

In 2001 year of department were again incorporated in one producing a department which got the name of department of industrial and civil building is manager Sverdlov V.D.. At the end of 2002 years, in connection with opening on the faculty of new speciality 7.092103 “City building and economy” from the department of ICB the department of town-planning and architecture which became producing for new speciality was dissociated. It was led by the doctor of engineerings sciences, professor I.N. Dudar.

In a 2006 department led doctor of engineerings sciences, professor, A.S. Morgun.

The department of ICB carries out preparation of specialists from 1974 years, and from 1979 year preparation of specialists is conducted for foreign countries. Preparation is conducted for to eye and extra-mural forms of studies. From 1994 years a department carries out preparation after the two-level system: bachelor, master's degree. For this time it was geared-up and produced over 4000 specialists for our state and 210 for oversea countries.
